    It depends. That chicken might have sat for a week already at the grocery store. If it was frozen when it got to your fridge, eat it. If not, toss it!

    I tend to do one of two things- cook it immediately or freeze it... but once in a blue moon- I get busy or can't be bothered and now I have chicken stuck int here.

    Normally a week is too long for me. But I also go off the premise that the store had it before I did. And I also try to keep track of if it was frozen when I brought it home- sometimes they are- so they take a day or two to fully thaw- then a day or two more and they are still okay- but if they are fully thawed when I purchase them and then they accidentally sit for 4-5 days- probably not- such a waste- hate to do it- but rather waste the 15$ then get sick.

    I had salmonella poisoning for 3 weeks and it nearly killed me.

    It may be paranoia, but don't fool around with that stuff!!
