I am thinking about buying a food scale. What are some thoughts on the best one?

I just got a Better Homes scale for 35 bucks.

However, you are going to want to look for a few things when shopping for a food scale.

.05 measurements
Ability to measure grams and oz
Common features like tear to adjust for containers

You don't need to spend a ton of money on a scale. You can probably pick one up for 20 bucks depending on where you go.

Just make sure you can measure ounces and grams...and that it gives you those decimal measurements.

i ordered one of amazon that measures in grams, ounces, kg, and lbs. its awesome and its the only way i feel comfortable knowing my intake is spot on.

I had portion power for years!!!! I got it at Bed, Bath & Beyond and loved it, but I've decided to go Euro and start measuring grams since my old one only did ounces.

This was the recent one I bought. Works very nice (when I use it :embarassed: ), but there are much more inexpensive ones out there.

I picked up a digital "biggest loser" one at Walmart for under $20 for my kitchen. it has grams and ounces and the all important tare button so that you don't have to figure out the plate weight

I bought a smaller Everyday Living one for $6 at a supermarket to use for travelling (it isn't digital and I need to factor in the weight of the plate, but for travel it is fine)

I like measuring grams and ounces and the ability to put the bowl/plate on there and the tare button so I don't have to add the container as part of the measurement. I like the digital format which requires a battery rather than the spring loaded.

I have one from Pampered Chef. It's my first food scale and I like it, it's got a tare feature and changes from ounces to grams, but I only use it for grams. I like to keep things uniform (a little OCD) so I like weighing everything in the same unit.

My food scale has even earned a coveted place on the counter in my small kitchen! Everything else, like my blender etc. are all hidden in the cabinets.

Just bought that one from Amazon a couple weeks ago, but looks like they are out for now. Anyway, be sure it has a 'tare' function and can switch units. 'Tare' is important so you can keep adding things to the plate without having to measure everything separately, makes things a ton easier.
