easy way to make a heart rate sensor band smaller?

I just bought the polar h7 bluetooth heart rate sensor and the band that comes in the package is too big for me. It constantly slides down my chest while I am running. Anybody know a quick fix for this? I guess I can try to cut and sew it so that it is smaller, but I feel like I might just make it worse haha. It costs $20.00 online for an XS band and I know I can order one but I just dont have the money right now. Anybody got any quick and effective fixes?

I tied a knot on one of the sides where the elastic was long, but it is still sliding down a bit. Amazon has the xs band on sale for under 17 dollars (I have prime so shipping would be free) but I think I am just going to cut it and sew it smaller. It really can't be any worse than it is!0
