Dieting while trying to conceive?

Every month after I ovulate, I am hesitant to diet and exercise strenuously. I still want to keep losing though right up until I actually get pregnant.

Do you think or have you read that dieting while trying to conceive reduces your chances of conception and implantation?

Well, I can still get pregnant while dieting. Trust me, real life experience talking here. You personally, though, would have to talk to a medical professional to know if it would affect you. I haven't read anything that says otherwise, though.

I was actively losing weight while we were trying to get pregnant and I'm now 30 weeks in.

I would obviously talk to your doctor first but eating healthy (not dieting, but eating healthy) and exercise are great ways to keep you healthy while you're trying to conceive. If you've had issues with conception in the past, however, you really want to be careful. Definitely talk about this with your doctor (I did)!

Exercise-induced endorphins boost prolactin levels that can make a pregnancy less likely to occur. Overheating your body has also been linked to miscarriage and birth defects.

Excessive exercise can also impact your menstrual cycles. Many experts recommend no more than 7 hours of exercise per week for women trying to conceive. It really is all about moderation.

Becoming underweight is definitely a no no. The impacts it has on your hormone levels can make it more difficult to conceive.

So it's not that you cannot exercise. However, if you are trying to conceive I would take it easy on yourself and focus more attention on eating healthy.

I think it is more important to focus on nutrition. Folic acid and other nutrients are vital. I have never heard of "healthy" weight loss or exercise negatively affecting conception.
