just sharing a little trick i discovered a couple weeks ago which has really helped me..
a couple of weeks ago, i started writing down my deficit at the end of every day in my (private) blog here. it only takes about 10 seconds, but it has helped me enormously. it seems kind of too simple or obvious, and totally isn't for some people, but i'm glad i started doing it.
this past month i have had some problems being consistent with logging. but with this simple trick, i am doubly encouraged to log everything, every day, including my late night snacks
previously, i would get a bit discouraged when i went over my goal on any given day... the red numbers are so intimidating. but with recording my deficit at the end of every day (or the next morning), i am forced to see the positive side of even a small deficit.
for example, when the big red numbers say "-190" --- yes, i went 190 cals over my 500 cal daily deficit goal, but i was still at a 310 cal deficit for the day..... like last week, i went over my "goal" most days (no fridge and low funds = too much pasta), but i am able to see that i was still at a decent enough deficit to lose almost a half pound a week!
that was super wordy and possibly confusing, so here's my blog record for the past two weeks, as an example of what i mean....
..
NOVEMBER -- 18 - 24
caloric deficit GOAL for the week = 3500
actual deficit ...
mon. 18 = 658
tue. 19 = 258
wed. 20 = 669
thur. 21 = 534
fri. 22 = 521
sat. 23 = 215
sun. 24 = 916
TOTAL deficit for the week = 3771
..
NOVEMBER 25 -- DECEMBER 1
caloric deficit GOAL for the week = 3500
actual deficit ...
mon. 25 = 190
tue. 26 = 252
wed. 27 = 139
thur. 28 = 68
fri. 29 = 44
sat. 30 = 544
sun. 1 = 331
TOTAL deficit for the week = 1568
anyway i know there are the graphs on here which do sort-of the same thing, but this is a lot easier for me to conceptualize....
i totally recommend this little trick. it has really helped me, and it is so quick and easy to do.
