No weighing myself until Jan 2nd!!

Hi fitness freaks. I have declared and I am making myself not run to the scale everyday looking to see if I lose! I'm the type of person who constantly runs to the scale every day and its driving me CRAZY to be quite honest! I have started this myfitness thing for awhile now, and my starting weight was 230 pounds and I had made it down to 190! But than I ate it all back up. Just being lazy and eating what I want to eat. So now here I am again looking silly...needing to start ALL OVER again. I promise myself that I will be my goal weight which is 150 pounds, and I will reach it by summer 2014! Im tired of my stomach bulge and not being able to fit into my jeans I already have. I recently purchased the 3 liter gallons of water and I am drinking 3 liters of water a day. Also in the new year I plan to run an event once a month starting on January 1st a 10 miler. Idk when the last time i weighed myself but I know it was right around 223 pounds, basically 230. So i already put in my calories for tomorrow, and im going to jump up and have a new attitude in the am! I have got to get this together!!! So wish me luck!

Best of luck - I've cut back on weighing myself. Does it help? I don't know. But I'm motivated to have improvements before I next meet my trainer. That will always be my aim! Continuous improvement.
  • Oh that sounds interesting .... I am debating how often to weigh myself. I figured that if I weigh myself each morning it reminds me of my goal and how much work I have to do and why I shouldn't waste another day not working on it.

Jen yes it helps!! I know Im around 230 pounds now.....on Jan 2nd my goal is to be under 200 i know I can do it if i stick to my 1200 calories and my workout regiment! If I weigh myself everyday or every week it will discourage me. I think in Jan when and if im under 200, I will start weighing myself weekly again

Really 30 lb in 1 month? I know that I would never achieve that, nor would I be aiming for it. I would get very frustrated if (when) I didn't make it. If I'm down by 2-3 lb in the next month I'd be delighted, hell, if I'm not up with Chrismas inbetween I'll be pleased. If I'm down by anything more than the 3lb I'll be breaking out the sparkling water in celebration!

But if that encourages healthy eating for you, knock yourself out.

I started at 230 on August 4th. Today I weighed 191, but my official weigh in day is tomorrow. 30lbs in one month? The first month I started I lost a little over 11lbs. I was eating 1200 calories and walking twice a day and NOT eating back those calories. I want you to be succesful at losing weight, but 30lbs at your current weight is not realistic. I'm afraid you will get on the scale and be dissapointed and give up again.

New here, but old hat at this trying to lose thing.
I have to agree. That's a lofty goal to set for yourself. I'd hate for you to be disappointed come Jan 2. Personally I'd dance a jig if I lost 5-8 with the holidays in there.
Although I do like your idea of not letting the scale rule your emotions/determination. I weigh daily in the beginning because it motivates me to see the numbers drop. But when they even out and I'm down to losing that 1-2 lbs a week, I try to just do it weekly.
