worried about plateauing

Ever worry that you'll plateau for no reason. I know the science behind weight loss and there is no logical reason why I would as long as I am logging accurately. I can't seem to stop weighing every day either. If my weight stays the same for a few days I always think it will not go down, it always does eventually. Does anyone else feel this way?

  • I know exactly what you are saying! I will weigh every morning and if a couple of days with no change I freak out completely and get discouraged! I have even had my bf hide the scale from me to keep me from weighing every morning (I know sad)! I think its not a feeling you can get rid of but hopefully it will eventually go away or you will stop worrying about scale numbers.

today is a great case in point. I have been so good the last few days and have gained 2lbs. To be fair I have done weights the last 2 days and ate soup full of sodium and on my period so definitely water weight...still a little part of me wonders

I stayed at 160 for about 3 weeks. That is when the scale is not your friend, especially when 155 is your goal weight.

There are days when I take the battery out of my scale. It gets frustrating. I plateau quite often now that I am closer to my goal weight. Put the scale elsewhere and focus is measurements at least once a week. Stay positive because all of your hard work will pay off.

If you start off at the higher calorie end of the spectrum when dieting, you will be able to cut calories if you do plateau. This is better than going straight to 1200 calories(rock bottom), plateauing and not being able to cut even more calories.

Take measurements or photos too, every few weeks. If you also do weight lifting, the scale can give false information, muscle mass is denser, so weight can stay the same or go up, but you will be slimmer.
