My name is Jackie and I've been trying to lose weight for my boyfriend who is coming home from the marines in 18 days. In the past, I've become impatient and resorted to anorexia and bulimia, which I vowed never to do it again. I gained all that weight back and now I'm trying to get rid of it the right way. My problem? I can never do it right for very long. I get impatient and think it's not working and just give up.. I don't want to do that anymore. I want to drop 25 pounds, from 150 to 125. I'm not too familiar with this whole network support thing.. so any connection to help ground me would help. I also forgot to mention that I have an anxiety disorder which causes binge eating and emotional eating. We all know what that leads to.. It's just difficult for me to stay on track, so like I said, any help would be great. Thanks!

Hi Jackie, welcome to the forum. I see a couple of things in your post I definitely relate to. I've been trying to lose weight (and gaining it back) all of my teenage and adult life. When I was a teenager my family thought I was fat, so I was doing it for my family. As an adult I just wanted a partner so I was doing it to meet someone. I've slowly come to the realization that I need to do this for me. For a long time I just thought of myself as "a fat girl" so I just wanted to be thinner. The longer I do this the more I realize it's not about fat or skinny, but about quality of life. I want to be healthy. And that takes daily, weekly, monthly, yearly work, and constant choices to respect my body. That is much easier said than done. It's difficult to stay motivated long term. I too get discouraged when I don't see results right away. Sometimes I binge eat and drink when I'm frustrated. But I do find that if when I recommit to healthy choices, and when I keep making healthier choices I do see results in the long term. And I think ultimately healthy living is a marathon, not a race. At the end of the day people want to be with someone who is happy and healthy, not with someone who can "lose 10 pounds in 2 weeks." Motivation is a problem for me too. Please feel free to friend me. I think it would be great if we could support one another.0

You aren't trying to lose 25lbs in 18 days, right? Because if so, you won't get much support for that. It's not possible and there is no healthy way to even attempt it.
If you're trying to lose the right way, you can find tons of support on here. Remember that losing 1lb to 1/2lb a week is a normal, healthy rate of loss, and should be viewed as a success. Take pictures, take measurements, and don't always rely on the scale. Water weight from too much sodium, muscles retaining water from a new workout regime, and TOM can effect what the scale says. It's more important to gauge your success on how you feel, how your clothes fit, etc...0
