looking to get more defined abs...any suggestions?

Hi...I've been working on this ab thing for a while now and am seeing some pretty good results but want to take it to that "next level". Anyone have any good suggestions? Diet...exercises...cardio??? What's been working for you??

Abs are made in the kitchen and will only show once your BF% has dropped low enough to allow it. Doing counltess ab work or a specific program targeting them won't do much if in the end your BF% isn't low enough.

    Same as ^^

Abs will only begin to show as body fat % drops. Its hard work but ultimately worth it in the end

Lift heavy weights and eat lean to drop your body fat. For women, abs show when your body fat is below 20% Mine are almost too defined, they were just perfectly cut up for a while and now my obliques are popping too much... and I don't get periods because my body fat is near 17%. It's a trade-off, you get abs, but lose the boobs and the period and stop feeling very womanly.

bump to see what other people say.

BTW, I agree with everyone here. Cut the fat by eating habbits then your ab work will show their results.

Coupling your ab circuit with cardio such as running or swimming will reveal your abs more quickly than crunches alone. I have seen a lot of progress when incorporating a large variety of ab exercises into my routine as well, instead of limiting it to just sit-ups, etc. Try toe-touches, 100's, scissorkicks, leg lowers and high-low plank switches. Side planks and bicyles work the obliques well.

Well, your abs are doing great. You just need to lose bodyfat to define them.

Less body fat = more defined abs.

As previously stated... abs are made in the kitchen. You can do a million crunches a day but unless your BF% is low enough for them to be seen then there is no point to doing all of the crunches. Get the diet in line a little better to lower then BF and they will soon appear.

Then it's not the lack of abdominal muscle. Your bodyfat is not as low as you may have been led to believe, most likely.

try some fork put downs and table push aways.

That should yield better results than endless mindless crunches.

Thats awesome! LOL!!! I have been getting some results from doing what i have been doing. I guess i just wanted more of a chiseled look. I may just look into put downs and push aways...lol seems harder than doing the dam crunches though.
