Anyone ever tried making these with egg whites instead? Could save 200 of 700 calories... I suppose I can just try it, but anyone who has, does it taste the same?
Recipe I use:
1/2c skim milk
1/2c flour (i usually mix white & wheat if i have it)
3 eggs
splash vanilla
1/2 T sugar or sweetener
Mix, put in preheated buttered (i use 1T margarine and let it melt in the oven, then PAM it good as well) pan in oven at about 400 or 450 for about 15-20 mins. Sprinkle with lemon juice and powdered sugar (2T).
It's about 700 cals if you eat it all rather than share. I tend to if it's a good exercise day. you can cut out another 100 cals if you eliminate the sugar and powdered sugar, but that is so yummy.
but, you can get it to about 500 cals with just egg whites instead and that seems so much more reasonable. I should try it. Let me know if you have.

Awesome! I will try these. even 1 egg and 3 egg whites might work and lighten it some. Thanks0

That's a good idea. I am never sure if the yolk is needed for flavor or texture or what. These are rather eggy pancakes, so i wonder what whites would do. But, they rise / puff / bubble up, so maybe they would rise even more if they were less eggy... hmm... well, good thing I am super obsessed with eating them like at least once a week so i can just experiment a little!0
