okay to cut back a bit after 'heavier' days due to events...

Hey guys, just looking for a few others opinions on this out of general interest more than anything.
I'm maintaining now so I guess it can mean different things to those loosing and those at desired weight, i'm just wondering say after events like thanksgiving or for me this weekend I had a christmas party, lots of food and drink involved, i made smart choices but I just wanted to simply enjoy myself and really did.
Now for the beginning of the week i've cut down to a deficit a bit by about 200 calories just to offset the weekend i suppose and let it all balance out.
Is this a bad way of looking at things, i'm just wondering in general what others do.

I would say a single day of overeating won't do anything to your weight, but if you do string a few together, cutting back by 200 calories/day for a little while (a few days or a week?) is a great way to mitigate any damage. *shrug* That seems more disciplined than most people do.0

Sure, why not? I do it often. But it's usually because I'm too hungover to eat the day after an event....:indifferent:0

Yep, I'm in maintenance too and after several high calorie days (2,500+ days from Wednesday-Sunday), I did a low calorie day yesterday. This morning most of the scale bounce was gone and I'm back in my maintenance zone. Today was back to normal and a normal calorie day.0

When I've been maintaining, I've done that. I'm usually not that hungry after a blowout day, anyway.0

Hope so - spend my life doing this! Everybody now - PAR-TY PAR-TY PAR-TY

Thanks for the replies guys, I was just wondering if many do it, I have been since maintaining when I feel I need to and it hasn't seem to do my body any harm, I always seem to balance out at the end of each week and maintain so going to stick with it.0

I purposely eat lighter during the week so I can eat more on the weekends, even in maintenance. I eat around 1700 during the week so I can have one or two 2500-2800 calorie days Friday and/or Saturday. So far it has worked very well for me.0
