Pregnancy and working out

Hey all!! I wanted to ask a question and get a few pointers and opinions.

I'm an inspriring Elementary teacher, sending off tons of cover letters and resumes but am still waiting for a school to even look at my papers let alone interview me. Since the school year has already started, my husband and I have decided to take this opportunity to start our family. I'm 31 and have a mild case of enodometriosis so needless to say, we need to start now. The kicker is that I teach Zumba twice a week (and might be adding another class) and it is my only source of income at the moment. My husband can't do this alone and I need (and want to) keep teaching.

I'm worried that when I do get pregnant, m afraid to know what my threshold will be when it comes to working out. I've seen women work out up until the end of their pregnancy but I would like to know if anyone has any past experience in this kind of situation, if there is any kind of advice you could lend me and what I can look forward to?

In my case I couldn't because I am considered high risk, but before I had complications my ob/gyn told me that if you are working out before you get pregnant it is ok to continue though the pregnancy. And the fitter you stay the easier it is to deliver!

I would definitely check with your doctor on this, but low impact workouts should be fine (swimming, elliptical, stationary bike, you get the idea).
  • I have a suggestion, maybe before your pregnancy and during , start a prenatal fitness class.
  • Thank you all so very much!!!
  • to clarify, when I said start a prenatal class, I meant you could possibly teach one, participating in a class would be also be nice

I walked until I was about 6months but had to stop because of round ligament pains. They just bothered me to bad and when they finally stoped I was huge and it was the middle of the summer. But many friends of mine exercised til the end. I even had a friend that is a runner and since she was used to it the doctor said it was okay for her to continue until it bacame to uncomfortable.
