The first day of the rest of my life...

I actually started November 24, but I was struggling with another site until I found this gem. OMG, this site is awesome.

Ok, two weeks ago I was diagnosed with type II diabetes. I can't say that I was surprised, both my mother and brother died due to complications from it. And I wasn't taking care of myself. I ate whatever I was in the mood for and drank quite a bit.

But that's all changed now and I am very happy with my progress thus far. Only problem is that my wife is not a supportive person (at all) and she is finding it hard to accept the fact that I can't eat those huge unhealthy meals. I'm going to join a Charter Fitness and although she says she wants to join too, I doubt she will stay with it. But I'm out to take care of me cause no one else is going to.

Looking forward to the new me!

    Congratulations on your decision.

Hopefully you can get excited for your wife to come to the gym and she can work up some excitement for you not dying young from diet-related, treatable illnesses.

Don't worry about your wife. Lookout for #1. When she sees progress and your success, she will follow. And if she doesn't, don't stress over it. People create their own destiny.

This link will get you started:

    1. Eat right,
    2. Excersize (cardio priority)
    3. Screw cheat days. Don't cheat. Stay with it

    Welcome aboard!!
  • Thanks for all the support and kind words. Everyday is getting better and better. I've lost 12lbs so far and my wife is now getting into cooking light and healthy meals. She's even going with me to the club tomorrow. 2014 is going to be a great year!
