I need advice on how to get started on my weight loss journey. I started for a while in the spring but then fell off the wagon when my asthma and allergies hit again. I finally have my allergies and asthma under control so I'm ready to start again and don't want to wait until the new year. I'm also wanting to start trying for my first child in the next year so I need to get this weight off to be healthy during pregnancy and to feel better about myself.
I hate exercising with a passion and can never seem to stick with a program long enough to see results. What do you do to lose weight with minimal exercise??

Hi and Welcome!!!!
Maybe a good place to start would be to look over the info in a topic called Your Guide to Sexypants by a man who knows his stuff SideSteel.
Sorry "A Guide to get you started on your path to Sexypants"......never sure whether you'll find it without ALL the info (sorry bi really computer savvy)
Goodluck

Hi! Well you made the first step joining here so good job If you hate exercise... I most definately recommend you find a program that you can do with short/few times every week. Take a look at New Rules of Lifting for Women (book). It is AWESOME! I was spending HOURS at the gym everyday and didn't lose a thing... or I would lose lbs but not inches. I work out 3x/week for 45min. That's all! It goes by quickly... and I actually enjoy it. I do the program (about 25min) and throw in a 1mile run before hand (intervals, run/walk - you'll learn more about intervals vs. straight cardio if you read the book).
All this with clean eating and good protein intake... and I'm definately seeing inches lost and I've lost 2 lbs in the last 3 weeks. Not a HUGE loss, but its good enough for me just starting out w/ it
Good luck!0 -
I hate exercise too... the thought of going to the gym puts me in a bad mood. I've been on MFP for 12 weeks and have lost 40 lbs through my diet and walking. I got a fitbit and started making sure I hit 10,000 steps and 5 miles per day and now I sometimes go as far as 10 miles and 20,000 steps.... I haven't stepped a foot in a gym through this whole process because I could suck it up and just do it but i know me and after the weight is off I am not going to keep up going to the gym because I hate it...I am trying to find habits and things i can fit into my existing lifestyle to make it better that'll stick for the long run!.... Make it fun, that's what it's all about0

I thought the same when I started. I really didn't want to exercise so I just stayed within the 1200 calorie range. I did start to lose weight but then decided I wanted to eat more. To eat more and still lose, I had to exercise. I started small - 20 minutes on the treadmill. I found the more I exercised, the more I could eat and the better I felt!
Start with just eating the recommended calories and see what happens. Good luck!0 -
Hi! I walk 5 miles a day for work (2.5 there, 2.5 back) and that seems to have worked for me thus far. With winter (and snow) coming, I will definitely have to change my fitness regime. The plan is to walk to work as much as possible until January, when I will start driving to work for the next two months and instead of walking, I'll be completing the Couch to 5K programs. Congrats for getting started and good luck!0

I'm not overly fond of exercising either. I use Walk Away The Pounds by Leslie Sansone. It has worked for me. They are relatively fun, low impact and you have 15, 30, and 45 minute options.0 -
Hi,
Track that food!
I Use to hate exercise, but I Finally enjoy it. It took 'baby steps'. Started with a zumba class with Friends that was once a week. Kept adding more things. Now I do a home dvd program 5 days a week, I never would have thought I'd get here.
I Hate running - so far that hasn't changed lol
Walk! Do you have any issues walking? its a great exercise with no equipment needed other than good shoes. Add in all the 'little stuff'... park farther at the grocery store. Take stairs. Take an extra flight of stairs here and there. Little things to get the body moving.

Hi there...I have been stuffing around with the whole weightloss thing for a while myself but woke up this morning and said THATS IT!. I absolutely hate exercise too but I do like swimming so will try and go 3 times a week. I have actually lost 30kg before simply by sticking to a calorie controlled diet of 1200 calories a day...took me a while to get it off but it did come off, and I never did any exercise lol. I kept it off for a few years after I lost it but have gained a lot of weight again...stress, etc. You know how it creeps up Well, I have a goal of losing 25kg and I want to make that a reality before next October so Im going to check in here everyday. I find that recording all your stuff on here really helps, you tend not to stray too far. Whenever I don't record its because I am lying to myself lol. Good luck with your journey0
