    Going gluten free is quite easy, just use normal recipes and replace the flour with almond or coconut flour. Cheaper then the gluten free articles for sale in supermarkets and healthier as well. Are you gluten intolerant? If so be aware! Gluten is in more then you might think like stock cubes and candies.

    About diabetes I have heard good stories about low carb diets, even tho many people seems to be against it and think we don't eat vegetables and fruit. Almond- and coconut flour fit also very well in low carb diets.

    I've been grain, legume, added sugar free for over 16 months. The best advice I could ever give you is to choose NOT to make a habit of replacing gluten products with equivalent non gluten products. Baked goods are still baked goods-processed and often high in sugar. There are thousands of processed "gluten free" foods on the market but they are NOT necessarily much better for health.

    How about having homemade gluten free baked goods as only an occasional treat, and basing your diet on meat, eggs, and vegetables?

    However, as a Paleo person who has a bunch of Paleo cookbooks, they all seem to have very large sections for Paleo "treats" all of which are gluten, legume and dairy free. I've tried a few and they are absolutely delicious. Everything from banana bread to bacon cookies to brownies etc. My child's birthday cake was a Paleo carrot cake which turned out better than any other "real" carrot cake that I have ever had.
  • my doc said to go gluten free and that was hard because I love PASTA and bread and rice so I will deff. try out the coconut flour and see how that goes.. I am not big on sweets at all I can go without baked goods such as cakes and brownies and homemade candies..

    Go back to basics. Eat lean proteins, fruit, veggies, eggs, and dairy products. You will find that most "gluten free" items in the grocery store are SUPER expensive and don't taste that well anyways. You can add me as a friend if you like I have been gluten free going on 3 years and I feel great!!!

    I eat a lot of rice now too. As for pasta I like a brand called Sam Mills its a corn pasta. In my opinion it has the same texture and very similar flavor as regular wheat pasta. My husband even eats it who is not gluten free with no complaints.

    If you look up paleo recipes you'll find tons of gluten free ones (what am I saying? they're all gluten free). I recommend pinterest as a good place to find recipes.

    I know the feeling. I am gluten intolerant as well and in the beginning I had a hard time with it too, but you will get used to it. You could make pasta and use courgette instead of noodles. I used to make it a lot and tastes quite nice. The sauce didn't had to change, nor the cheese on top, but since I had more issues with food I went Paleo and make really everything myself, so I am absolutely sure there is no gluten or any other stuff in it I shouldn't have.

    I am gluten intollerant, and it has definitely been a challenge, HOWEVER, it has helped me tremendously!

    The first step in eliminating Glutens (and this came from gfe--gluten free easily, a group on FaceBook that is fabulous) is to start out by changing your diet initially to all natural fruits, vegetables and meats. Avoid anything processed and make everything from scratch. That scared me a bit, but it was actually really simple.

    Once you get the hang of that, then you can start adding certain things back to your diet (like processed items, with lots of research before). Do not be fooled by some of the labels that say they are "naturally" gluten free. Read ingredient lists all the time. There is a gluten free shopping app for smart phones as well that is very helpful.

    BTW, rice is not a gluten, potato's are not a gluten, and corn is not a gluten. I do suggest not to overload on those things, and brown rice is better for you. You can also substitute Quinoa if you do not care for brown rice. I do have lots of recipes if you're interested, just message me and I will get them together for you.

    If you have a Target near by, they have a really great gluten free pasta.
