Flavored sparkling water

Hi All,

I'm trying to kick my Diet Pepsi habit. I seem to crave the carbonation more than the caffeine. Someone suggested I try the flavored sparkling waters, and I think they're pretty good in terms of satisfying my "need" for carbonation. But are they as bad for me as the diet soda?

Thanks!

If fructose is involved, it's bad. Usually flavored sparkling water is 0 calories and 0 sugar. It is a fantastic way to get in your daily amount of water without adding any calories and giving you the feel of soda.

Seriously, I drink it every day and I am kind of obsessed with it.

I'm addicted to La Croix sparkling water, particularly the grapefruit flavor. Many of my friends like it as well. However, you can't go into it expecting it to be sweet, because there is no sweetener whatsoever. It's just carbonated water with a hint of grapefruit. Zero calories, zero everything. I love it though!

You could buy a soda stream (if they still actually make them)

I buy sparkling bottled water sometimes, and then just dilute it with sugar free cordial of some kind.

Tesco (here in the UK, not sure where you're from) do flavoured bottles of water, 1.5 litre, 8 calories in the whole bottle - a great substitute for Pepsi, Coca Cola, etc.

I order sparkling water (Always Talking Rain, no sweetener of any kind, Usually Tangerine, but sometimes Berry or Lime) by the case from my little market. I was cleaning them out as fast as they could restock. I drink 2-2 liter bottles a day. Is that an obsession?

I kicked a major Pepsi Max habit recently, and I think the lack of caffeine has been really good for me. My day-to-day blood pressure is lower, and I sleep a lot better.

Other than that, I don't think there's much difference between Diet Pepsi and (sugar-free) flavoured sparkling water. They tend to contain a lot of the same sweeteners and the like, but if you haven't had an adverse reaction then there's nothing to worry about.

I've been drinking the perrier pink grapefruit one and I like it, but as said above, it's not sweet at all, so it's quite a switch from pop.

Good to know! Thanks, everyone! It's great too because I've been struggling to drink 8 glasses of water a day (feel like I'm drowning), but I'm chugging the sparkling water like I do my Diet Pepsi, so now I'm getting enough. I'm still drinking regular water too, but this makes it bearable. Yay!

if you want the healthiest alternative, I would do what someone else said with buying a soda stream, make your carbonated water and squeeze some lemon in it and you can have flavored lemon water with a fizzle to it

    Cancer... why?
Here are the ingredients in La Croix: carbonated water, natural flavor

The "natural flavor" in the ingredients list refers to the natural oils extracted from the fruit of the flavor you choose. When I said "there is no sweetener whatsoever", what I meant was, well, that there's no sweetener whatsoever, including artificial ones.
    So, yeah. Sounds really dangerous.
