Suggestions on Squat Cage

I really want to start heavy lifting like I did when I was a college basketball player MANY pounds and moons ago! My work schedule (gone 12-14 hours a day to work Mon-Fri) and having young kids makes it hard to get to a gym late. Not to mention, we just moved a few months ago and the hub isn't working here yet so, gym membership funds are very limited right now!

Anyway, to the point: I am thinking of investing in a squat cage. I don't have a lot of extra money. I just want something that serves the purpose and is safe. Looking at them online, there is a whole menagerie to choose from, ranging from a couple hundred to over a thousand. I am looking for recommendations. What are the good ones, that aren't crazy expensive, serve the purpose and are safe?

Basically you're looking for something that's rated for probably 400+ lbs and that will likely be good enough for absolutely anything you'd ever throw at it. I encourage you to look for something that has a pull-up bar incorporated into it, and ideally one that's the proper diameter pull-up bar, at that.

a quick amazon search got me this in just a few clicks

    http://www.amazon.com/Titan-Power-Squat-Deadlift-Bench/dp/B00GHNLK9E/ref=sr_1_16?ie=UTF8&qid=1386244764&sr=8-16&keywords=power+rack

That would likely be adequate for most anyone.

Edited to add: you already have an oly weight set or ?

I'm hardly an expert as I just started lifting in June but I was VERY impressed with the quality of this one for the price (and the price is even lower now) and the extras like the lat pull down and the pegs for storing plates. Assembly took awhile but it wasn't really difficult.

check craigs list too- you'd be amazed what you can find there.

Even if you have to shell out full price for the cage... you should be able to pick up a barbell set and some plates for less than 200 bucks.

When I was thinking about getting a rack this is the one I was looking at:

Cheap, doesn't take up a lot of room, and serves all the safety purposes a good rack should.

Another alternative is Squat Stands (which is what I use). Certainly don't have the safety features of a true Power Rack, but are much cheaper, and gets the job done as well as supporting the bar goes for Squats, Benching, etc.
