HRM question

Hey everyone,

So I just bought myself a Polar FT4 and I had a question... So based on my stats it gave me a heart rate range (127-167), is it bad if I go over this? I only really break into a sweat at about 165 and don't really start feeling like i'm accomplishing anything until about 170. I have just started exercising after a hiatus so I know that my HR will come down with training but for now while I get my breathing in check and strengthen up a bit is it really that bad to be in the 159-180 bpm range?

FYI I'm 5'3", 137lbs, and 23 years old.

Thanks!

It may. Or it may not. Is that your prior experience? I ask because I have been very well trained and I have been untrained and it doesn't matter how well trained I am, my HR shoots up to 170+ when I jog, no matter how slowly. When I do Tabata intervals on the treadmill, it has recently gone as high as 217 (I'm 38, so you can forget that whole 220 - your age thing)! I've even had a treadmill stress test at a cardiologist, and it's just normal *for me*. My *resting* HR improves with training, 'tis true.
