Changing Food Mindset

Ok so last night I started to realise something, I'm more obsessed with food now than I was before I started trying to lose weight. By that, I mean that I'm more likely to eat more bad food now than I was before, I can only put it down to self sabotage. I'm not massively overweight, just about 30lbs and was in my mid 20s before I started putting it on and even then it wasn't excess food that started it, it was that I stopped exercising 3 - 5 days per week but didn't change what I ate.
E.g. I have always loved homemade soup and could quite easily live on it, but since I started my weight loss journey, homemade soup has become a diet food and suddenly it doesn't satisfy me any more. So I follow it up with crisps or something equally as bad. How do I stop thinking of it as diet food and start thinking of it as comfort food or just plain good food?
Has anyone else found that they do the same thing? Is it just pure willpower that will help me break this bad habit?

For me, the answer is to plan my meals. I know what is for breakfast, lunch and dinner a week ahead of time. That's not to say that I don't sometimes deviate, but for the most part that keeps me straight. Sometimes I even log the entire week ahead of time, really keeps me honest with myself.0
