Proper form or Time under tension

Hey guys,
Just wondering what works for you guys, I often have people question my form in the gym as I prefer keeping tension on the muscle at all times when I'm working out. Despite the prevention of injuries does proper form help stimulate growth more ? I find exercises more effective and get more of a pump/burn when I slightly adjust the proper form. Pause sets give me the best burn however I just don't see the effectiveness in fully executing most moves.
If you guys have experienced the same things or have any expertise that could help me decide what is the best to use that would be much appreciated

Time under tension does not make you gain strength, lifting with proper form and progressing with your weights does.
Don't lift for a "burn" or a "pump". I can get a "pump" if I curl a Campbell's soup can for enough reps. That does not mean I'm getting stronger - that means my muscle is filling with blood, water, nutrients, etc. from the repetitions.0 -
Proper form should be executed at all times, REGARDLESS of goals!
Paused bench still has form guides, as do paused squats etc.....
There are endless debates as to whether TUT or standard lifting gives better results, so I won't go into that as I've never really done TUT to compare.0 -
Form is #1.
TUT- that depends on your lifting goals. Want to lift a lot of weight? Learn how to explode, that requires speed. TUT doesn't train you for that.0 -
Yeah, some of the best advice that I have heard was that it doesn't matter how you "feel" after you leave the gym. If you put in sufficient work, the muscle will grow. (Check out the "Muscle College Radio" podcasts, excellent)
Things like pump, soreness, stretch, etc... don't actually count for anything. Specifically regarding pump, it's been proven that pump has no bearing on work done or potential growth.
Also, form is there for a reason, and it's to protect you from injury. Man you cannot disregard this lest you find yourself to be a dumbass later... I've been out of the gym for about 6 weeks now due to injury (and I kept good form even). Injury is no ****ing joke, especially when you love the gym.0 -
Form is king.
Everything else is secondary.
Get the form right and safely progress. Get the form wrong and risk effing stuff up.0
