Is it bad for me to be going over in carbs?

Hey,

I've been here a long while, but I'm just now asking this for some reason. I typically eat within my calorie goal, but I almost always go over my carbs (usually by a pretty decent amount). Does this really matter? All I really ever hear is horror stories regarding carbs, but I don't exactly know why that is so long as you're staying within your calories. Advice?

The amount of carbs you're eating isn't a problem but the amount of fat and protein is. Those default limits set by MFP are the minimum amounts needed by your body for good health -- fat and protein are essential. Concentrate on meeting your fat and protein goals and let your carbs end up where they end up. Best wishes.

Only if it's taking away from your other macros. Make sure you meet the protein and fat minimums, and everything else can be whatever.

If you're doing low-carb, then carbs do matter. Personally, I found that I lose when I do low carb/high fat. It works for me.

I eat within my calories goals to and eat around 450 grams a day. Now I have my macros set so that Carbs lead the way because I exercise alot and believe in fueling my body and feel the best when I get in plenty of carbs but many others on here that Watch Proteins and Fats first and foremost, fill in the remainder with carbs... Carbs are not evil...... I have lost a few pounds eating them..... Best of Luck

It depends in what context you are asking. For weight loss, assuming you are at least getting enough balance in your diet not to make yourself sick, then it's probably not going to matter much.

But more protein will help you retain muscle and lose fat. Many nutrients are fat soluable, so you need some fat. Fat also keeps your hair and skin healthy. Also, if most of your cars sugar or white flour this is not as healthy as eating some carbs that contain more fiber. Fiber is important for a healthy gut, and a healthy gut is important for overall health.

Are you losing weight at an acceptable rate? Then you're fine. Carbs actually aren't toxic.
