Can you eat too much protein?

This is my first day keeping track of my food in a long time. I just noticed I'm close to what is supposed to be my protein intake for the day and I haven't had dinner yet, probably because I had a protein shake for breakfast and i'm eating a snack bar that has a lot of protein as well for my afternoon snack. Is there such thing is having too much protein? Since all my protein has been from whey is it okay to have fish or chicken for dinner?
