I see a lot of people at the gyms wearing sweat shirts or hoodie jackets. Does it make a difference in your workout? I would just be uncomfortable and over heat!!

I don't know man, maybe if you went all Rocky/Apollo Creed on it and got a nice metallic one and had the hood up whilst holding a bedazzled weightlifting belt above your head during your entrance, it may change something...at the very least your brah status.
  • I sometimes wear a hooded jacket when I start my workout, but that's usually to keep me warm as I warm up - the air con in my gym is pretty powerful so unless you're feeling warm/heated in the first place it's uncomfortably cool to begin with.

Once I'm warm enough I take off the jacket and drape it over the display so I can't see how long I've got left to go on the machines lol. Yes I am that easily fooled..

Some people like to warm up in a hoodie and then take it off after a few sets. Others prefer to always be hot and sweaty so they keep it on at all times. Most of the folks I see wearing these go straight to the weights without any warm-up cardio so I can see how the air conditioning would feel chilly in the beginning so an extra layer to start seems reasonable.

I sweat like crazy so I usually dress in a tank and shorts.

I'm just annoyed by hoodies in general, I don't find them stylish or comfortable really. Sweatshirts are fine but yeah, any time of year other than like Nov-Feb I would overheat being super active indoors w/ a hoodie on.

Just realized I don't own 1 single hoodie. For me they're on a mental "off limits" list for wearing after 30 (along with plastic Old Navy flip flops and Converse All-Stars and anything from Hot Topic). Yep, I know a lot of people will read that and be like OMG WTF NO but I am not trying to push that on others, I'm just saying for me personally...

There's a guy who wears one when he trains at my gym, all puled up over his face too. This is letting everyone know not to bother him, he's also a personal trainer so people know this and want free advice from him or are clients of his and want advice. Either way when you wear a hoodie up over your head there aint nobody gonna bother you at the gym (normal intelligent people)

This definitely makes a lot of sense.

I wear hoodies alllll the time at my house because I like to keep it cold enough that I need one, it's a comfort thing I guess. I can't workout with a hoodie on though. I might keep it on for a minute when I hop on the elliptical for my warm up, but I have to ditch it pretty quickly. I get hot way too quick to keep it on the whole time, I'd feel like I was dying in about five minutes lol
  • No hoodie, for me.
  • No, personally I hate them when I workout. I have a gym in my non-heated garage and it was REALLY cold in Denver last night. I had long sleeve t-shirt, compression pants and sweat pants on top of those. I tried wearing a hoodie and it came off within 3 minutes. I got the workout done but it was pretty miserable.

It's mostly a style thing, and some people wear them because they like to sweat more.

    It makes zero difference otherwise.
