2 pound gain in a day, but not fat gained? WTF?

Anyone have this happen? You are sticking to your MFP guidance. You workout a ton, eat right. Lose poundage. Then one day you workout for like 2 hours, your heart rate monitor tells you that you burned (net) 2200 calories. There is no way you can eat all those extra cals that day, so you go to sleep with a (net) remaining cals to eat of about 500 cals. You wake up the next day and you are about 2 pounds heavier?

Stats:
Male, worked out cardio plus heavy weights, doing low carb/paleo (what works for me)
Drinking plenty of water.
Working out daily, mixing up high intensity cardio, recovery/weight loss (low int) cardio, weights
(Admit) To still be needing 500 more cals I had to eat 2 dinners, one of which was a half a chicken and a protein shake, almost right before bed

...don't feel fatter, but weighed more?

^this. Especially if you've recently started a new exercise program or increased/changed an old one. Our bodies flood sore muscles with excess fluid to help in the repair process.

And remember, weight loss isn't linear. Even when you do everything perfectly you are going to have up days and down days. This is exactly why they tell people not to weigh daily. If the fluctuations are going to bother you then it's time to get off the scale.
