I've found if I have an abundance of calories left to consume but not a lot of salt or any to go for fruit, or pasta or rice.
if I have an abundance of salt I still can consume (need 1500 a day I am told) and a low calories count left to intake to go for the greens. Spinach alone can consume a lot of salt and has very little calories. Medium greens would be collard greens or turnip greens. Remember these are greens low in calories high in salt to get your daily balance of salt inline.
Any other helpful input would be welcome. I'm just learning what I can eat after having a stroke. So, this isn't about building the body frame it's just about survival and finding foods I can eat with a lot of low salt counts.
Also of note just an fyi believe it or not if you like bread and I sure do that Great Value small hamburger buns are the lowest in sodium I ever saw. Maybe even lowest in calories at 90 calories 150 sodium per whole bun not bun side but whole bun because on the package it says only 8 servings and there's 8 buns in the package.
Edit note: Just an fyi I've lost near 40lbs since august using my Lean Cuisine diet plan I made myself. Good foods even if it is 'processed" and apparently healthy cause my Dr. doesn't disapprove as long as I keep the sodium down. And it works for losing the pounds. I'm definitely amazed and I haven't exercised a bit. I sit on my butt all day long and lose the weight. Gotta love that.
