New, New Years revolution

Hi, I'm starting this because I need to loose weight.
Currently weighing at 200lbs.
On the 1 st of January 2014 I will be starting gym, calorie intake 1400-1600, I will be attending for 2 hours everyday except sat/sun.
Firstly I'm trying to lose as much as possible in 5 months, summer included if necessary.
I've been encouraged by friends to go when I said I wanted to lose weight, they said they were planning to go (even though they already fit and healthy).
My goal weight is 150-170lbs (I'm a guy and is this a healthy weight) I don't want to be boney.
Is 1400-1600 cals a day and 2 hours gym for weight loss (mainly, may add weights) good enough, and could I reach my target?
Plus can My Fitness Plan be able to help, and I need motivation, is it good to get mp3 motivational speeches from e.g Mohammad Ali, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and many more? (With good music)
Thanks everyone

I'm terrible at linking things, maybe someone can help me- look up "In Place of a Roadmap", and figure out your TDEE (total daily expenditure), to make sure you are eating enough to support your goals. I'm guessing, since you say that you don't want to be bony, that you would like to maintain lean body mass (muscle) along the way.
I'm a 131 lb female, who works out significantly less that 10 hrs a week (unless you include walking), and I have lost about 11 lbs in 6 weeks eating around 1700 cals a day- it's not the fastest weight loss, but since I have been lifting, I look smaller than I have looked in the past at a lower weight. Since your starting weight is further from your goal than mine, you would most likely lose quicker than that.0 -

^this is true. be sure not to be on a greater calorie deficit than you need to be, pace yourself, and when your body plateaus and progress decreases, increase the deficit by about 100cals or so.
also, youtube is filled with tons of motivational speeches, etc. try looking up eric thomas0 -
Thanks hopefully I can do it0

Why wait until New Years? Or is that your gym start date, and you are planning on using MFP now? Also, your profile says you are female and you said in your OP that you are male. Guys tend to get more calories than us girls. You should probably correct that to get more accurate goals.0

Thanks so much.
It has good and bad moments, much like being a guy I would think. One good thing is that you get more food than we do
Best of luck :flowerforyou:0 -
Hah, that's true, but I don't mean that as in "shame u can't eat as much" because what I eat is less than I should, but I have to forceful add more cals to my diet hopefully will work. And thanks and good luck to u to0
