I usually get some combination of:

    Whole milk
    LOTS of eggs
A package of ten frozen fish fillets
4 to 8lbs of boneless/skinless chicken breast, depending on price
frozen vegetables: broccoli, sliced mixed bell peppers, chopped onion, carrots
2 bags of salad... usually one is spinach
2- 8oz packages of some kind of cheese(s)
fresh fruit: bananas, apples, pears, berries, avacado, etc.
whole wheat or multigrain english muffins
several cans of tomato sauce and diced tomatoes
    orange juice for boyfriend
    box of minute rice
Lots of canned beans for chili
    peanut butter
    tuna

    Some recipe ideas:
In a large frying pan mix thoroughly and cook on medium heat: 8.4 oz. can of pineapple juice and 2 Tbsp tomato paste, 1tsp red pepper flakes, 1tsp ground ginger, 1/2tsp brown sugar, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1tsp corn starch.

Once heated, add two firm fish fillets (I LOVE swai, tilapia isn't firm enough and falls apart in the sauce), about 2 medium sliced bell peppers, chopped onion and broccoli flourettes.

Cover and simmer slightly for about 8 minutes, or until fish is cooked through.

If you prefer softer veggies, start cooking the veggies before adding the fish. This is also excellent cooked with some kind of citrus like mandarin orange sections of chunks of pineapple. It's pretty cheap to make and it's delicious.
  • These lists are great!

Here's a few of my fav's to have around:

Egg substitute: REALLY low in calories and works great on those evenings when I want to eat something but don't have many calories left. You can also split it with a real egg and it has better flavor but less calories than two real eggs.

Canned Beets: One of my favorite low-cal items. They are sweet and hit the spot when I'm craving something to eat

Fish: I keep bags of frozen fish in the freezer. My favorite it haddock but they have ever type imaginable at Walmart and Sam's Club. Most can be found in individual portions which makes it super easy to have the right portion for your meal or snack

Sugar Snap Peas: These are great for when I get the "munchies". I sit with a bowl of these (at about 45 cal a cup) and munch away. They are usually sweet enough that I don't use a dressing but if I'm feeling a really big munchies coming on, I whip up some ranch dressing with low-fat mayo and eat away

Pickles: These are really low in calories and can hit the spot when I want something to munch. I also really like pickled asparagus and pickled green beans.

Low Sodium Vegetable juice: this is one of my new favorites. It is really low in calories and can be a nice change to water when I want something in my tummy

PB2: Great mixed into stuff for some PB flavor or a bit on it's own

Mine is so boring right now. It's basically 3 different types of in season veggies (right now it's been broccoli, green beans, and fennel), 2 types of fruit (a lot of kiwi and apples right now), jar salad fixings (kale or spinach with carrots and mushrooms), chicken breasts, coffee, canned tuna, frozen berries, almond milk, cottage cheese, and eggs. My husband is bulking and I'm losing, so we each have our meal plans that we're following and we're not being too creative with them right now. Usually once a week I make a really special meal or we go out, but for the most part this is what I get every time. I'll play around with what fruits and veggies I get depending on what's in season.

The crazy thing is that I made this list in the exact order that I come across the items in the grocery store! I guess I know my routine.

I do a lot of my shopping at local farms and farmer's markets but with winter here that is not always an option. I spend most of my money on meat and dairy then head to veg and fruit. A sampling of my weekly trip, arranged in the order of the aisles of the store (yes, I am nuts like that):

    Cabbage
    Kale
    Jicama
    Spaghetti Squash
    Limes/Lemons
    Cilantro
    Tomatillos
    Spinach/Super Greens
    Cauliflower
    Mushrooms
    Ginger
    1 or 2 seasonal fruits
    Nut flours
    sunflower seeds
Butter -lots (main cooking fat and ghee)
Milk-lots! (I homemake cottage cheese and yogurt)
    Eggs-lots!
    Tomato Paste
    Raw apple cider vinegar
    Coconut Oil
    Olive Oil
    Quality Canned tuna and mackerel
    Olives
    Aged Gouda
    Goat Cheese
    Bacon
Ground meat, beef, chicken, lamb, pork
    Large Meat for crock pot
2 whole chickens for roasting and making broth
    Fish
    steaks or chops
    Deli meats and cheeses
