Starting the dash diet monday...not sure what I'm going to each for phase I any menu ideas would be appreciated.
Also, in my book I don't see anything about Calorie limits...did/do you count calories? (the 2,000 something menu isn't going to work for my weightloss I fear)

Me too! Let us know how you get on!0 -
My doctor recommended the DASH diet as a good healthy way to eat even if you don't have high blood pressure (mine is low). Maybe check with your local library and see if they have a copy of the book, mine does.0

So the diet only works if you eat at a calorie deficit? Have you tried Twinkies?0

I am starting this Monday with a friend in another state. It basically is what I used to eat when I was eating right but I did it on a calorie deficit. Phase 1 is not Carbs for two weeks. At limited Caffine.
I think I am going to use MFP and keep track of my calories even though they tell you not to worry about it.... not worrying about it is what has gotten me to this point in the first place. lol
My codieter is a guy...if this were a compition I would need the advantage to even the playing field. lol0 -
"No carbs for two weeks" breaks my #1 rule: don't do anything today that you aren't willing to do for the rest of your life.0

The two weeks are supposed to reset your metabolism and taste buds and then for the rest of the diet -phase two you incorporate healthy ones back in.0

Having READ up on the diet, it sounds like a VERY reasonable way for someone to lose weight, and reduce hypertension. I suspect it would work quite well for pre-diabetes, and for some with PCOS. And other than sugar, it doesn't seem terribly restrictive. But then lots of things are restrictive, like having a serious medical condition.0 -
