Hello,
I have signed up for MFP today because I need to change my eating and exercising behaviour.
My weight has always been kind of a rollercoaster. I used to have a normal, healthy figure. Then I got pregnant and gained weight, i. e. 12 months after giving birth (that was in 2004) I weighed approximately 190 lbs (I am 6 ft tall). Then I started working in a carpentry, had to walk around and to carry heavy wooden beams and doors around a lot). Six months later I joined university and in 2010 I weighed about 119 lbs. Then I started working in an office and what can I say? I sit on my desk all day and snacked here and there, and as a result I am now at 173 lbs. I don't want to get back to 119 lbs but I think that 143 lbs would be fine.
I think that MFP will help me with that as I can see my progress. And I am confident that the community gives help and advise if needed.

The food diary is an excellent tool to develop awareness of our nutritional goals and daily intake. Pay attention to the totals for your daily food, and use them to modify your intake. I've been using this for about a week now, and already have made good progress. I find it useful to "pre-plan" meals for the day. That way you have no thinking involved when it's a meal or snack time. Just eat or prepare then eat what ever you've got on the menu!
Good luck!0
