Anyone here have trouble with low blood sugar? I've been having an awful time keeping my blood sugar in a good range...just wondering what sort of meal plan you are following and if it seems to help!

I haven't been diagnosed with anything but I was having episodes of hypoglycemia. A low carb, high fat diet resolved all of those blood sugar/hunger related problems for me. I'm able to skip meals whenever the mood or occasion calls for it without issue. The diet isn't for everyone but people with poor blood sugar control seem to respond especially well to it.
If that's not something you can see yourself doing, you could try cutting back a bit on the low quality carbs, and upping your exercise being sure to include strength training. Good luck.

The LCHF recommendation is spot on! I had real bad blood sugar swings, which caused energy high/lows, prevented weight loss, caused massive cravings and poor sleep. The dietdoctor.com site is very good because it is free advice from a medical doctor, based on REAL FOOD, and no gimmicks, no powders, no pills, etc. I've been on MFP for a long time and was only able to get successful results until I discovered info on LCHF. It's a strategy that works for me, I hope you find what works for you. Good luck.0 -
It's tough being hypoglycemic and working out. I could probably eat a 2000 calorie meal and 2 hours later my blood sugar will drop like crazy from going too long without eating. I try to eat 6 smaller meals a day spread out within 2 hours of each other. I also carry around food everywhere i go just in case I get light headed. Usually cuties, protein bars, orange juice, etc.0

I am very sugar sensitive. You you fancy it why not friend me and we can talk about it more. There are things you can do to stabilize your sugar (and your head if you are like me) :-)0

The solution for me is zero simple carbs plenty of complex carbs and plenty of protein, eat fat but just up to your macro count in MPF. I believe (please check) that there is a cross coupling between some fats and simple carbs for some hypos. If you are trying to lose weight eating too much fat is not going to help and there are other things you can do which work just as well.0

I keep prepackaged grapes, (100 grams) and mixed nuts (30 grams) in snack-size baggies and always have Frigo Light Cheese Sticks on hand. If I get a call out in the middle of the night or right before I'm scheduled to eat, that's what I grab. I came close to passing out in a patient's home on a call a couple weeks ago. WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN!0

I've been hypoglycemic for 30 years and I made the conscious decision to make most of my calories proteins. I eat every two hours during the day, workout 45 minutes a day, and have had zero insulin reactions. I think the combination of eating frequently and with tons of proteins, I'm doing better than before working out.0
