Motivation?

Why is it so easy to fall back into unhealthy habits?! Why is it hard to get on track & stay on track?

I lost over 30lbs in a year & gained 20 of it back in just 8 months! I feel like i've failed. But i know it's time to stop feeling depressed & do something about it...i've done it before & i know i can do it again. I just have to find that motivation & determination i once had. No more excuses for me!

What do you do when you fall off track? What keeps you motivated?

A beautiful pair of low rider, lace up, bell bottom leather pants. I want to look amazing in them and they are my reward. I don't want to just "survive" anymore; I want to THRIVE.

Keeping myself surrounded by supportive family and friends is helpful, too.

Reading success stories on the forums here is amazing!

Find something to focus on and chant it while you workout if you have to. Remember, sweat is just your fat crying!

Hang in there and you can do it!!

Motivation isn't what keeps you going, it's just what gets you started.

What you're missing isn't motivation - what you're missing is discipline.

Yep, you absolutely can't rely on motivation to stay around. I frequently don't feel motivated to track calories, or eat a sensible portion, or go for a run. It's worth it when I do though. The results are what make it all worth it. It's not always fun or exciting or inspirational. It's just what you have to do to get the results you want. Much like going to work, or studying for a degree, or raising children.

Motivation is highly overrated. Commitment, determination and discipline get the job done.

i agree with the above posters. you might use motivation to get you started or carry you a little further than usually, but determination and discipline are what really gets you to the gym.

It's good to have goals, and for me i do better when i'm registered for races. my training takes on a new aspect. i'm no longer training to look better, but to get stronger and faster. and appearance is the result of hard work.
