Cheat Day?

I stated low carb on Dec 1st. I am not asking opinions on low carb. My question is....I have a cookie exchange Satruday the 14th. What are your feelings on cheat days? I have read they are fine...in fact they may even be beneficial, but I have been working hard and the scale is finially moving (a little!) and I am worried about messing up the progress I have made. Thoughts?

Oh and also for a cheat day...do you go all out or still monitor what you are eating?

Lyle McDonald has written several books on this. You should read his blog if you are doing low carb - he is pretty much recognized as a guru for keto diets, although he doesn't like that label! Log story short, "cheat days" or refeeds are beneficial if they are controlled. You need to worry about how often you do it and how you do it. Refeeds are not just a free-for-all and the frequency and refeed style changes depending on your current body composition.

... but they are beneficial if done right. Most people don't do them correctly.

I still monitor on "free" days and stay under maintenance. I just don't care about my macros as much.
