want to add lifting but, I'm broke.

I need advice from anyone who can help. I think its time to add some lifting into my routine. The problem is, I cannot afford to join a gym. Also, I have bad arthritis in both knees so, the squats I have been reading about would be just about impossible for me to do without causing extreme pain. I can't even do lunges during my regular aerobics, much less squats. I currently do an hour of low impact aerobics 4-5 times a week. I get up at 4:30 in the morning and workout before getting ready for work. I just started using 2 LB weights when doing my aerobics but I'm sure that isn't enough. Help!!

I would look on youtube for resistance exercises that use your body weight. You can find plenty and get a great workout in. You don't need weights.0

Use bodyweight exercises and things you find around the house (a gallon of water can be pretty heavy when you're pressing it overhead). And even though you say your knees are wonk, consider trying body weight squats. Squats offer the best single exercise (calories burned, hormone response, etc.).0

Definitely a lot to be accomplished thru body weight movements. I'd also encourage trying body weight squats to try and help your knee pain.0
