Hi, my names Priscilla. I am turning 18 in a month and I'm 4"11 124 lbs. Ive been going at weight loss for about 2 months now. Ive tried everything and exercised hard but haven't been losing. Ive actually gained. Yes my body does look slimmer but I need to really lose. I do work out daily and I go hard. I do 40 mins of running on the treadmill at 5mh along with either insanity, Brazilian butt lift, or jillian michaels. I eat clean, protein shake before and after workout. staying away from bad carbs thru out the day and eating veggies and lots of protein. My calorie limit is 1200, I stick to it . Ive tried everything but my body stays atthe same weight. for my height being 124 does not look good. How do you people suggest I lose overall body mass and weight?

Are you weighing and measuring your food? Are you eating back exercise calories and if so how are you measuring the burn?0

I dont weigh the food but I do count calories by reading the food labels and adding accordingly. I don't eat back the calories.. atleast I dont think I am. I have this calorie diary that I use to track how much I eat. I I eat atleast 1200 calories (give or take a few) and then burn atleast 500-700. My treadmill has a calorie reader and it says I burn atleast 400 cals on it and I burn another 200-300 doing the workouts.0

hi, Im currently 125 pounds as of now and also 4'11.
Its been 5months since I started here on mfp, and my starting weight was 140 pounds.
Uhm, u said you still see that ur not losing weight. you're probably gaining muscle and losing fat at the same time. trust me. looking slimmer even if the weight isn't moving down, you are already losing weight.
I'm glad u keep track of ur exercise. I exercise too but only lighter exercises. I used to do desk cycling and arm cycling but decided to leave em. Then I started lifting light weights 10 mins a day or 20 mins a day.
weight lifting and mild stretching worked better for me rather than cardio.
Ive lost 1 pound in a month. Even if Im eating at maintenance calories of 1500without exercise. I'm still losing.Even if II don't eat diet foods. I just cut calories. Patience is always the key,
I believe that it might take me a year before I lose 20 pounds lol..(thats how my patience works!)
I've read somewhere that Petite females have the tendency to eat more when exercising a lot (talk about cardio!)
Just think of this as a 'slow and steady wins the race.) You can do it!
You can do it!
Go you! Go GO!0 -

At 4'11 and 124lbs, you'd be lucky to burn 125 calories doing a Jillian Michaels workout. And would have to be spending an awfully long time on the treadmill to burn 500-700 calories. Those machines over estimate calorie burns, as does MFP.
The bottom line is, if you aren't losing weight, you're eating too much. If you're eyeballing portions, guessing how many calories you're eating, and over estimating your calorie burns....you're consuming too much.0 -
Are you netting 1200 or eating 1200 and then exercising on top of that? Based on weight and height, your BMR is just over 1200 calories, and it's not a good idea to net under your BMR. You can't really get the right nutrition at that few net calories. That said, I agree with the person above me--that if you're not losing, it's almost certainly because you're eating more than you expended.
I would try to find a better way of calculating burn than taking it off the treadmill. I don't know if you've calibrated it for you, but I went online and plugged in your weight and the time/speed of your running, and it gave back just over 300 calories burned. If you're eating based on an assumed burn of 400 minimum for the running, that could make a difference. A lot of people here advocate heart rate monitors for accurate tracking of calories burned. I don't have any personal experience with them, so I can't tell you much more than that.0 -

I am this height and a little less than this weight (121.6) and it took me 4 aerobic workouts yesterday to come close to burning that much (430 cal).
I agree with everything quoted above. You need to weigh all your food accurately. You can't guess.0 -
Working out at a new intensity can make you retain water which masks scale losses. It can last for a few months, I find. Though your exercise burns do also sound high.0

Hahaha, you guys crack me up. Although on a semi serious note, so as to answer the question. Bad carbs are cakes, white bread, white flour, etc. Good carbs can be found in veggies, whole grains, etc.0 -
