Pre/Post Workout

I just joined a gym. Last week I was on vacation so I leisurely had my morning coffee. Then I would eat breakfast. Then I would go to the gym. Then I would eat a protein filled lunch. Then carry on with my day. Unfortunately I live in a small town right outside of a bigger city. There isn't a gym anywhere near my house/work, so I got a membership at the YMCA which isn't convenient, but it is the best option. (Hard to explain). I typically like working out first thing in the morning, but since I can't really drive all the way home and then all the way to work I will need to shower at the Ymca. Even though I was in the Army and showered in front of lots of women, I don't feel comfortable doing that right now. So, I'm going to limit my workouts to after work. Again, I have to drive out of my way to get to the Ymca--so I will be changing at work or when I get there. Long story short (sorry) should I eat something before I work out? When I was on vacation I felt comfortable going for a run in between breakfast lunch. I eat lunch at 12:30 and don't get off work til 5pm. Today I brought a Quest Bar. When should I eat it? I want enough energy to have a good workout, but I don't want to get in the habit of eating a 200 calorie Protein bar in order to do so. I feel like I'm rambling and not making any sense. Hopefully someone reads this and knows what I'm asking. lol

I think I understand your post. And no, you're not a moron.
I find if I eat a snack (such as a banana with almond butter) an hour before I workout, I can perform so much better. I hope that helps!!

Thank you for replying. I just wanted to say that my house/work/gym are in three different directions and they aren't convenient to each other--so I have to figure out the most efficient way of fitting it all in. Which means instead of going home to eat dinner at 6pm like I usually do--I will be at the gym. So since breakfast and lunch weren't too far apart, working out in between was AWESOME. Now that I will be doing between Lunch/Dinner there is a LOT of time in between. Today I will eat my Quest bar an hour before I go. Then I will buy some bananas and start having a banana late in the day instead of with my breakfast. I will just do a little rearranging. haha0
