How do you like your grilled cheese?

    I think once you add meat, it stops being a grilled cheese and more of a sandwich... I might be alone on this.

    Don't get me wrong I love meat, but once you add bacon and other meats they become the star in that situation.

    I disagree. As long as you have a positive cheese ratio, it still counts.

    So in a standard craft on wonder bread, we need 2 slices of cheese to each strip of bacon?

    White bread, Kraft singles, lots of butter, squished to bloody hell, and with sliced sweet pickles stuffed inside!

    My favorite cold weather meal. Tomato soup and grilled cheese, Jack cheese also.

    I like to pull the bread apart after it's cooked and spread some peanut butter on it. It's called a Grilled Charlie and it is DELICIOUS.

    I have forgotten what grilled cheese tastes like.....but I have a dim memory of eating it with real old cheddar....none of this processed crap....:)...

    let me remind you remember that last sweet kiss you had, the last time you heard angels singing, the last time the sweet taste of manna touched your parched lips...that is what grilled cheese tastes like.

    Hmm. I would say 4 slices per strip. But I use thick cut bacon.

    Sourdough and cheap Kraft singles (but like 8 of them). Thin sliced deli ham that's been grilled works well in there too.

    That is a Croque Monsieur if you add the ham.

    Hmm. I would say 4 slices per strip. But I use thick cut bacon.

    Okay on that ratio it sounds reasonable I guess.

    Extra mature cheddar, any bread and grilled. Just as nature intended. But sometimes I flirt with the dark side and a few dashes of Worcestershire sauce. Or a thin coating of pesto.

    Damn. I'm now feeling hungry again!

    It's called a "grilled cheese sandwich" because it's got cheese and it's grilled. Anything else and it becomes a "whatever and grilled cheese sandwich."

    I gotta agree that once you start adding all the extras it's not really a grilled cheese anymore. A grilled cheese to me requires fat on bread (oil, butter, spray etc) at least one type of cheese, and no more than one add on (bacon, ham, avocado etc).

    no fat = toasted cheese sandwich
    multiple filings = panini

    Tuna melts could still have a positive cheese ratio but they aren't grilled cheese. Grilled ham and cheese sandwiches aren't solely referred to as grilled cheese. So I have to agree with the poster that said once you start adding stuff, it is no longer a grilled cheese.
