So I have been going to the gym for 3 weeks. I have been doing it with a trainer. Soon my sessions will be done and I just dont want to pay for more sessions as it can get expensive!!! So my plan is to still go three times a week for an hour and do what my trainer tought me! What other good excercies is good... meaning which machine is the best work out?

What routine has your gym instructor got you doing?0

what exercises are you already doing?
the main ones should be bench press, squats, and deadlifts. you get stronger in these exercises, you get stronger. period.0 -

as long as you keep adding weight to the bar every week thats a fairly good set of lifts for a novice. I would add some mobility work (stretching etc) and some heavy core work into your routine to help assist in your main lifts.
For now just continue to do what your doing 3 times a week. You could always add some overhead pressing in and a row/chin ups in if you wanted.0 -
looks pretty legit to me!!!
if you want some reading materials or a more fixed "program" for you to follow look up the following
New Rules of Lifting (For Women)
Strong lifts
Starting Strength
Strong Curves0 -
The Big 4: squats, deads, bench press, and OHP. Plus whatever else you want to do.0

What I did the last few months I worked with my trainer was ask him to write out our workouts that we did together. I now have a huge folder full of workouts to rotate through on a regular basis. I haven't had a session with him since August, but am still making good progress.0 -
Stronglifts 5x5 is a great beginner program to follow, especially if you are already familiar with the form from working with your trainer.0

As far as machines: I like the leg press and the "super squat" machine (this is what my husband calls it; not sure if that is the proper name). The "New Rules" book has a ton of different things you can be doing.
You can also add some extra cardio. I alternate between the treadmill and arc-trainer (that thing kills me some days).0 -

it sounds like you've got a pretty good trainer, and he's set you up with a great foundation.
you can ask him what kind of books he's drawn your training from, but i bet it's mostly from Starting Strength by Mark Rippetoe. Pick up the book, and check it out.0 -
Calgary represent!
What gym do you go to? Because wow, that's a great routine the PT has you on.0
