Hello!
I'm 5'1 and 21 years old. I started out 4 and a half months ago at 271 and am currently at 220.5. I still have 91 pounds to go, but I'm so thankful for the 50lb loss!
Here is the fifty pound difference:
Way to go girl! Before you know it you're slim and sexy!0 -

(Sorry for my language mistakes. I´m not a native speaker)
To all of you who posted pictures: GREAT! You all look wonderfull.
I also really liked the post from azlifah95. Very honest and hearttouching story.
I´ve just started losing weight and right now I´m getting extreamly good results. The plan is to lose about 1lbs each week. right now I´m losing about 4lbs each week for some misterious reason.
For motivation: psychologywise motivation always needs to come from yourself. Here a few common methods how to increase motivation
- think about why you want to lose weight, write it on a big sheet of paper and put it on a place where you can see it every day
- imagine very detailed how it will be when you have reached your aim! professional athletes use that technic by imagine how it will be to reach the goal.
- Get a nice dress right one size smaller than you fit in right now and put it on a place where you can see it. By summer you will fit into that dress!
- Try to find a friend who wants to lose weight with you. That way you can motivate each other and stick to it! You can also make appointments for sports.
As azlifah95 I also recomment Jilian Michels. You can find a full workout on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTT4W8ygJ7w). I have to admit though that I did it yesterday for the first time and I still feel like crap! unsporty, every muscle hurts, tired.....) I guess I´m not ready for this right now. But I will try in 4 weeks again
I hope I could help you a lil bit
Greetings from Germany0 -
5'4" but very small frame. Started at about 260, haven't felt as well in MANY years. Doing fun things I thought I had given up FOREVER, but now I can do them and enjoy them again. SO CAN YOU!0

I want to say congrats to everyone. It's a real feat to lose weight, in a healthy way. Don't let anyone tell you you don't need to lose weight. I am at a pretty healthy weight, but I'm used to being more toned, so need to lose about 25 pounds of fat and gain about 10 of muscle. People say I look great. I know what my body is capable of. I know what my great look is. No one but you knows that. As long as you have a healthy mindset, you are the one to determine where you are comfortable weight wise.'
So continue along with what you're doing. Lose the weight. I just started the Venus Factor 3 weeks ago. I've lost about 5 pounds. I feel much lighter already, I'm more toned already, and I am already happier. I am using a supplement that I found at http://inshapenow.net/video to help the fat burning hormone, Leptin, burn the fat efficiently to get better, faster results.
So, know your goal and what is healthy for you. The calculator says my optimum is between 118 and 143. When I was toned to the max, and in amazing shape, I was 135. Anything lower than that, I look anorexic. So, know you. A calculator can give you guidance, but you are the one to make the ultimate decisions.
To a HAPPY New Year!0 -
I'm 5' 1/2" (on a good day) and am 51 years old. On January 3rd of this year I weighed 199.6 and thought "NO WAY!"
I didn't hear about MFP until April and joined right away. Over the past 260+ days I've managed to get my weight down to 155, so a 44 pound loss, over 41 inches overall, and I've dropped from a XL and 16/18 women's petite to a Medium and 12 (almost 10) slacks! I still want to lose at least 10-15 pounds more through.
MFP has me on a 1470 calorie restriction and I usually do keep between 1200 - 1400 calories a day. I have my activity level at "Lightly Active" but try not to eat back any extra calories earned by exercise.
I don't know for sure if these pics will load alright, but here are some before, during and after pics so far.

I'm 5'0" and am trying to lose about 10-15 lbs. When I tell people that I am trying to lose weight, I get that "you're crazy, you don't need to lose weight" look. I think many people fail to take our height into consideration. Little do they know that I have handfuls of fat around my stomach area and my thighs that I can grab. Just by the average person looking at me, I do not look like I have any weight to lose. 105 lbs has been my comfortable weight and is my current goal. I"m currently 115 lbs and currently working on losing it. I'm struggling a bit with the holidays and with my issues with binge eating. I'm trying to find that drive and motivation so I can reach my goal!
Can I ask how many calories you eat and how much exercise each day? I'm 5' and stuggling so badly0 -
I started off 177 and I am now 146 my goal weight is 130 though I'm 5'1 also at the beginning if the week I started gnc women's ripped vitapak to help to be up as I lose the last few lbs can't tell you how good it feels to be close to my goal so just do it is all I can say0

Hi! I am just over 5ft tall. In October 2012 I was 100.6kg (221.78 lbs). I joined MFP after being told about it from someone who is now a great friend and support when I wanted to look at the food side of things after I had increased my exercise so started here in Dec 2012 and my weight then was 96.2kg (212 lbs). My main exercise is walking. I own two German shepherd dogs and walk them separately. I am now at between 58 - 59kg (127 - 130lbs) and on maintenance.
It has been a long journey but I have made heaps of friends, improved my fitness and health and gained heaps of confidence as well. I am really enjoying my new found freedom, walking and the relationships with my two dogs who thrive on the one and one attention and are my biggest motivation to keep up the walking. I have participated over the year in two 10km walks and a half marathon.
Before this journey I would get out of bed in the morning stiff and sore and feel like I was 25 years older than I am. Not now, I have a spring in my step and seldom take any pain relief or anti-inflammatory tablets for my arthritic knees. I am enjoying life. Wish I had done it sooner but I am grasping the opportunities gained with both hands now and leaping back into life so for all you out there, you can do this and look at every small step taken, a goal achieved towards the big goal and grab the opportunity of the support and what you get out it with both hands, this is your life, take control and enjoy it. Here is a before and photo my friend did for me from the photos I sent her.

Amazing work!! You look so much younger and happier now0 -
While I don't have pics, I am experiencing some steady success. I am 4 ft. 10 3/4. Since Late August of 2013, I have been workin out at least 5 days/week and have gone from 153 to 134.5. Actually, between November 20th and today, I went from 148-134.5. I attribute the last chunk of weight lost to increased cardio, barred work, and closer attention to caloric intake. I still have a ways to go for sure, as I'm still overweight; however, I'm losing and feel that it's possible! You can continue on your journey secure in the knowledge that you can continue to have success. All the best!0

I'm a little taller than you (5'4") and I am 57 years old. On September 1, 2013 I weighed 124 pounds. I'm small boned, so extra weight really shows on me. Four months later I weigh around 108 pounds.
The most important thing I've learned with MFP is that I was not eating enough protein, partially because I'm vegetarian. I now eat an egg every day, when before I rarely ate them. I also eat lots of peanut butter, cheese, and edamame. Figure out what works for you and keep at it. Don't make it harder than it is and definitely take your time. Eventually it will just click and become routine for you.
Good luck!0 -
I am about 5'2. My starting weight was 220 lbs 2 months later my current weight is 196. The weight was dropped super fast at first naturally as I started exercising again for the first time in 10 years and only drinking water. My goal weight is 130 lbs. :-)0

Just checking in. I am losing the weight, slowly.... but surely. I am down 11 pounds, working out more regularly, and seeing a definite change in shape and tone. I had a pair of size 16 pants for interviews (they fall almost completely off now)... so thats fun. I might not be able to afford my trainer much longer, so staying motivated on my own is going to be key. Feel free to add me!!!!

I am in need of motivation as well. I am 5" 191 pounds. I gained 40 lbs after my wedding and an additional 40 lbs during my pregnancy. Since giving birth 10 months ago, I've lost 12 lbs. Needles to say I am very frustrated.0

I was 105lbs before getting married, then ballooned to 150lbs. I was 150lbs when I got pregnant in 2010, was 184lbs when I delivered in 2011. I was 167lbs in July 2013 & now weigh 122lbs. i never lost any baby weight. Like, none of it came off easily. It is very frustrating. My toddler is almost 3. I didn't start dieting til she was 2. She was a fussy baby & fussy toddler so I focused all on her. Now that she's more independent, it's much easier to fit in workouts. When she was a baby, all I could think of was sleeping during my freetime, not working out. It's very difficult. www.fitenssblender.com has some mama & baby workouts.0 -
I'm 5'1.5 (that half totally counts btw). I started out at 250 lbs.
Actually when I was 21 I was pregnant with my son, my first obgyn appt. I was 160 lbs, I had him and was 180 after he was born, when he was 4, my husband bought me the wii fit plus, I stood on that and was 230 lbs, when he was 7 I had his sister, I was 250 lbs on the nose when I found out I was pregnant with her. I lost 70 lbs in my pregnancy due to gestational diabetes, and then after she was born, I gained most of it back because I was no longer a diabetic and ate what I wanted and when I could eat. Decided I was going to get on track and since have lost a total of 133 lbs.
And this is what I've been really pushing hard to work on though you can't spot reduce but you can work hard to fix an issue.
I've been hovering between 117 and 125 I fluctuate between that.0 -

So, my transformation is a little bit different. Some may look at these pictures and not see any change at all, but I see a huge change. Funny thing is- in the top pictures, I was obsessed with counting calories. I always felt so guilty for eating out, I would do hours upon hours of cardio on the treadmill, I was depressed.... And I didn't seem to be getting anywhere. I ended up developing an eating disorder that got me down to about 112 pounds, but I gained it all back once I started eating normally again. The thing was, the mind-set stayed with me. I counted literally every single calorie I ate, refused to go out to eat because I was afraid of the calories in food, would skip meals, would refuse to get off the treadmill until at least an hour was up, then I'd get on the stationary bike... would choose the gym over hanging out with family or friends. I would lay in the bathroom or my bedroom and cry for hours because I despised the way I looked. I'd wear nothing but sweatpants and sweatshirts so people couldn't see my body. I was depressed and hungry.
Fast forward about a year and this is me now. I am in LOVE with lifting. I eat more calories daily than I ever have in my life. I eat balance of "healthy" and "unhealthy" foods through IIFYM. I go out to eat 3-4 times a week. I lift 3-5 times a week. Cardio when I have time, usually in the form of Zumba. I have increased my squat and deadlift to 1.5x body weight. I am happier than ever before and love seeing my body change. I DO WORK in the gym and absolutely love when people see me walk in and expect this little girl (only 5'0 flat here) to just cardio-bunny it up. Nope, give me those weights.
The BIGGEST transformation for me was my mind set and my confidence. You can eat fruits and veggies, workout all the time and look great all you want, but if you aren't happy..... you aren't healthy.
Top pics- 125 pounds 25% body fat
Bottom pics- 122 pounds, 18.6% body fat
Only 3 pounds different, but a whole new outlook on life and fitness. Huzzah!

@ Swehl
Man, we are built so similar. It's hard to find someone else on here who is under 5 ft. you look great! It should really give me some motivation because I am at your starting weight. I really need to get my butt in gear! Congrats on the loss, you look wonderful.
I am 4 foot 11 inches. I have been going back and forth on my weight loss and I can't seem to keep up my motivation. I have promised myself that I will once again be starting Insanity on Monday. Hopefully I can get that scale moving down and keep it down. Congrats to everyone, you all look great!
Feel free to friend request me. I could use some more shorties on friend list!0 -
I cant tell you how happy I am that this thread EXISTS! I am 36 years old and currently weigh 134lbs. I have been 'serious' about getter slimmer and thinner since Jan 6th and have lost 5lbs so far.
I had a baby in september so im using my maternity leave to try and get into a fitter state- not much time to get out and go to the Gym or go running (which I LOVE) but have been doing 30 Day Shred and Davina McCall Dvds at home.
Hope to be able to post some before and after pics soon!0
