trying to get myself back on track

ok so evidently my biggest weakness is candy, the month of October i snacked on the Halloween candy all month which lead to me not logging my calories anymore which led me to gaining back 4 pounds. i said I'd start fresh in November and did better didn't gain anything but still wasn't logging my calories telling myself at some point I'm going to have to be able to do this myself. i mean like everyone says this is a lifestyle change not a diet. that did NOT work lol, so i am struggling. i started logging again this week and realized i was back to thinking about food all day like i was way back a year ago i haven't don't that in forever but i was back to ....is it time to eat? when should i have a snack? what should i eat? uuuugggg not fun, today is the first day in a week i have not been obsessing on eating. this losing weight thing is soooooo not easy, for me anyway. i think I'm seriously addicted to food it makes me wonder will i forever need to log my food in order to control my eating? that seems so sad. i mean i have been dieting for a year lost 53 pounds went down 10 pant sizes (which i am totally proud of don't get me wrong) and i was still so easily able to slip back . i guess for me their is no "I'm fixed now" I'm normal. i will always have to watch and struggle with my weight.
my point this time? that slapped me back into reality? it was near the end of October my son gathered up all the candy in the house and brought it to his room . i stopped into say goodnight and said hey give me a snickers bar ... he looks at me and says nope. i should have laughed and said haha funny and that's it but i opened my mouth to yell at him even started to when i stopped and was like omg i am yelling at my son over a snickers, time to rain your self in heather.
so i'm back using my bike, logging my calories, and i hope i end next year having hit my goal weight.

You can do it. And I think a lot of people are in the same boat regarding possibly needing to log forever. I know that after reach maintenance, I plan to keep logging for at least for a few months to figure out what my true maintenance is. Then, after that, I figure I'll spend a few more months getting used to what that really looks like in food/servings. After that, we'll see.
I think of food a lot too. But what got me to commit to MFP was that I found that I was thinking about it all the time anyway--wishing I would make smarter choices, sometimes making smarter choices, regretting choices, exploring things like gluten-free and veganism, and also wishing I'd get back into a gym routine, sometimes getting into a short-term gym routine, etc. I was thinking about losing weight all the time but not getting anywhere. Being committed to MFP just lets me actually see results.
I also know that weighing myself every day will be a part of my life forever because it keeps me mindful of my goals as well as my success. I lost about 50 pounds 10 years ago. I kept it off for a good 7 years. It was only when I stopped the daily ritual that a few pounds starting creeping on.
This all isn't the worst thing in the world to cope with. I'm just thrilled to find something that helps so much!0
