Office Chair Excercise

I'm stuck behind a desk all day and I do excercise everyday after work. Are there any "office chair" excercises out there? Something a person can do while working behind a desk?

Put your hands on the arms of the chair and just lift yourself up works the back of the arms well. Works great on a bench but dip down infront of it instead with legs straight out. I do these if I'm waiting for someone say in the mall in a discrete place. It's a quick effective back of the arms exercise that will pay off.
I also do leg lifts on every coffee break discretly under the table; both feet on the floor raise one 6" hold for about 20 seconds and put down the alternate. Nobody even knows I'm doing them. Works legs and abs. Good luck????0 -

You can probably You Tube it...but the easiest way to explain:
Sit on the very edge of your chair
Hands almost under your bum on the edge of the chair
walk your feet out until 90 degree
Dip down till your bum almost hits the floor/ then raise up
To make it harder you can extend your legs out in front and dip down.
Great exercise for small spaces too0 -
for the more subtlly inclined ( work in a cube farm)
-while sitting upright with good posture, write the ABCs with your foot (e ven better on edge of seat as it engages the core a bit more)
- shoulder rolls (roll your shoulder forward and back)
-ab vacuums ( suck in belly all the way; push out all the way)
-leg lifts (sitting towards the edge of your seat knees bent, pull knees up and/or or extend legs and lift to parallel to ground hold abeat than slowly lower the legs down0 -
Univ. of Alaska PE Dept: Bonnie Nygard who has an MA in phys ed wrote a great book on things you can do to keep in shape while at work, at a desk, etc. Called "The Ultimate Guide to One-Minute Workouts for Anyone Anywhere Anytime". Also a second book called Making the Fitness Connection. I attended a seminar where she demonstrated ideas in her book, they were great. Here is a link to the UAA page:

Thanks everyone you have provided me with some great info. I joined the group and look forward to getting paid while excerciseing behind my desk.
I guess that would make me a "professional athlete!"0 -
Hey Brianages, you can also get a "deskcycle", the foot peddles fit under your desk and you can increase the tension. It definately works your legs.0
