How many meals a day do you eat?

Options
I usually eat around 6 meals a day, but after pm snack I am still hungry, so I am going to experiment with 7 meals at 250 cals per meal, does any one else do this? What do you think ? I would really like to hear your suggestions. Last year I was recovering for an ED, but I am back on track

I eat 5 meals a day. Exercise in morning. Big breakfast--snack--lunch--snack---dinner---snack. Eat healthy-fruits and vege for snack or a protein bar with under 5gr sugar :)

three at least, usually four but I'd like to try six, even if it's not very practical: I think I'm used to eat a lot on a single meal and that it would be better to split the same amount of food on a couple of meals ... but it really ain't easy!

I only eat what could be called a meal once a day, on days off sometimes 2. I eat throughout the day, just not usually a proper meal as I am too busy between work, school and family.

If you can handle eating 7 small meals go for it :) its a good idea. I know heaps of people who do it and love it.
I personally don't do it because I like the full feeling so I eat 3 bigger meals and a snack.

I eat 6-7 meals a day, but they vary in size depending on my activity level (eg whether I am working out once, or twice a day).

This is my typical day re meals:

6am/7am - 2x protein shake (pre and post workout)
    9:30am - Greek yoghurt & fibre toppers
    11am - 30g protein bar
    1:30pm - Chicken breast w/ salad
3:30pm - Quinoa crackers w/ either peanut butter & almond meal, or low fat cheese
6/6:30pm - Protein shake (post workout)
7/7:30pm- Steamed vegetables and chicken breast (or similar)

I drink about 3lt water a day... and eat approx 1250 cals per day.

    I hope that helps...

    Three...and then some snacking/grazing.

Personally I like having bigger meals for lunch and dinner...having 6 or 7 + small "meals" is just irritating to me and they resemble nothing remotely close to what I would actually consider a "meal"...it's like 6 or 7 + snacks throughout the day when I was doing that.

I guess it helps some people, but I always found it annoying and it's not necessary from a weight loss stand point...but if it helps with adherence then go for it.

Including snacks, I eat up to nine time a day, roughly every 2 hours.

I only eat 2 or 3 meals a day. I would hate to wash dishes for 5 or 6 meals each day. I just don't have the time to plan out, eat, and clean up 6 meals a day.

    Here's my day:
Breakfast: >250 calories, around 7 or 9, depending on when I wake up, and if I feel like it.
Lunch ~450 calories, at either 11:30 or 1:30.
    Dinner ~500 calories, around 6
Snacks/Desserts- I either have a snack around 3 or 4 and then dessert after dinner if I have room in my budget.

But if 7 meals a day works for you, then go for it.

I shoot for 6-7. I find myself not able to eat a lot at once if I am eating healthy, but of course I am hungry with in 2 hrs and I always get hungry at night. I usually go for a fiber filled cereal at night. the crunch and sweetness keeps me happy.

Typically 2 to 3 meals with the remainder of calories on snacks according to hunger/preference/available calories.

When I say meal I'm referring to something that I make an effort to prepare that is 600-1500 calories or so.

Whereas a snack might be whey protein, or ice cream, or a pop tart, or some pretzels/etc.

Most days I eat 6 times, but given they are typically the following there isn't a lot of clean or dishes for the most part:

    at home:
    1. Oatmeal/berries/protein powder (pre workout)
    2. Greek Yogurt (post workout)

    at work:
    3. 1/2 sandwich
    4. Jerky, apple, celery or carrot sticks
    5. 1/2 sandwich

    at home:
    6. Dinner with family. (varies)

Only the last meal involves a lot of potential cleanup.

I divide my calories pretty evenly between six meals/snacks. I'd find more than this difficult because the portions would need to become really small and I'd need to find time for it.

Meal timing is really just about what works for you, as long as you stay within your calorie budget.
