Strange hunger habits

I've noticed that I often become hungriER immediately after eating. This has happened on and off for as long as I can remember and it often leads to overeating because I just want the voracious emptiness to cease. I think I've become dependent/attached to feeling grossly full as well, but that's a whole other can of worms...
Anywho, it's extremely frustrating to plan a day's menu and have it wrecked because my meal (usually dinner) stoked the hunger flames instead of extinguishing them.

Soups are helpful as well as hot meals and baked potatoes (instant and lasting satisfaction when paired with a good amount of protein and fiber). Big fatty meals are great but not worth feeling gross after.

Increasing my water intake keeps me from snacking but doesn't help my overall satiety.

If it matters, I have a history of stomach ulcers.

So, has anyone had a similar problem or knows how to combat this?

My nighttime hunger is usually more mental than anything else, so I try to save 200 calories for a nice "this is the end of eating for today" snack (tonight was dark chocolate and a few nuts).
