Lost too much weight!

This might be a slightly unusual question, but maybe someone else is also in my situation.

My problem is that I exercise A LOT (cycling) during the summer, but never lose weight, because I overcompensate eating. Then the winter comes, I hibernate (live in Minnesota) and put on weight.

I wanted break the cycle, lose a little bit of weight and gain better control over what I eat, so I started logging in MFP about 4 months ago.

I weighted about 180lb (I'm 5'8", medium build) when I started. Now I'm at 158lbs and I feel GREAT and I'm fitter than I've ever been, but I don't want to lose anymore weight.
I'm afraid that if I go back to "normal", specially during the winter, I'm going to pack on pounds again. I want to do a "gentle landing", but don't know how.

Any tips???

Find the magic number The amoutn of calories you need to maintain weight with exercise or if your not exercising you need to know what you need there as well

You can set your goals to maintain weight instead of lose. That way you can still keep track of what you're taking in without losing.

I suggest that you manually alter the food goals to eat your BMR calories each day. Continue to log your daily food and exercise, and be sure to eat your exercise calories. If you don't eat them, you will continue to lose weight. Keep doing this through the winter, and be sure not to eat over your BMR+exercise calories. Do it through the whole winter so you can really get used to what it means to eat the RIGHT amount of food for maintenance.

Re figure your BMR, but remember to lessen the activity level for winter! You may be very active now, but in winter you will not be and set it accordingly. If you find you are putting on a bit of padding you can adjust it down again. Or you can get an exercise bike to keep up the intensity of your activity.
