Knee support garments?

So, bad knees run on my mom's side of the family and sadly I'm not even 30 yet and I'm starting to feel my knees crapping out on me. :sad:
My main problem is knee stability, I can hear/feel them pop and shift when I squat or do any type of jumping movement. They also get sore and stiff after rigorous activity.
My health care doesn't kick in 'til next year so I was wondering... Do any of you wear knee braces or support garments for your knees? What do you find helps with knee stability and support during your workouts?

I wear neoprene knee sleeves when I squat, and I have found that they do help with stability in the joint.0

That's good to hear, my first thought was to pick up a pair of those support sleeve things this weekend. Any particular brand you would recommend?0 -
I got a pair from Quest Nutrition, and they work really well, and aren't crazy expensive like Rehbands. (Although some of my powerlifting buddies swear by their Rehbands)0

I'm not a fan of supports. An occasional use around an injury might be fine, but not long-term. Most joint issues are caused by muscle imbalances. Over time, these imbalances drive poor joint movement and damage the joint. Consider having yourself evaluated by a qualified PT and running coach (if you're incorporating running in your training program). They will help you identify exercises that will correct the muscle imbalances (and the proper shoes to wear for running in the meantime).0
