Coconut OIl and Cholesterol

I've recently incorporated organic coconut oil into my diet. I've also recently been diagnosed with high cholesterol (particularly very low HDL and very high triglycerides, LDL is okay). I've read a lot of articles about how coconut oil can increase your HDL... however, I also recently read some testimonials (not on this site) about individuals who have had issues with coconut oil raising LDL and lowering HDL. Anyone here have any personal experience with incorporating coconut oil and its effects on your cholesterol numbers? Just curious to see what others have experienced.

    Do you eat a lot of pre-packaged baked goods? These are high in trans fat, which raises your tryglycerides. When I really started reading ingredient labels and minimizing products in my diet containing partially hydrogenated oils/fats, my tryglycerides were cut in half (from 157 to 75) in less than a year. A great way to raise your HDL is to exercise regularly.

    Edit: I do not use coconut oil.

    I used to eat a lot of pre-packaged stuff, but over the last several weeks I've completely transformed the way I eat. I'm sure the way I USED to eat has a lot to do with my numbers (my triglycerides were 266). I was just wondering if using coconut oil (vs something like olive oil) would have an opposite effect on my cholesterol.

    Refined carbs lowers HDL and raises trigs. Basically a diet with the lions share of calories coming from carbs especially the refined type will produce that cholesterol profile. Very common in NA.

    You could try olive oil or not baking much at all, but I doubt coconut oil is the culprit.
