I am in contact with a local legit hypnotist and acupuncturist. I really want to try the hypnotherapy, but it is expensive and I wanted to see if anyone had tried it and if it worked for them. I might do it in conjunction with acupuncture as well. I am a very easy person to influence so I think I am a good candidate for the hypo. part of it. Please let me know your experiences with it.

Thanks :)

My grandmother gave me some weight loss hypnosis cd's to listen to.... I figure it can't hurt to listen to them =)
  • yes, I've tried it. The operative word being tried.
He was very legit and experienced, had great success with other weight loss clients, but specialised in sports performance.
He hypnotised me so I would stop eating when I felt full, to put my knife and fork down
between bites, and if I overate I would feel sick.

I'd had great hopes and really wanted it to work, unfortunately the only thing that lost weight was my wallet.
And at $100 per session for 3 sessions............. but at least that was money I didn't have anymore to spend
on KFC or other assorted junk foods.

I have heard anecdotal evidence of people being hypnotised into believing they have had their stomachs stapled
and lost weight as if they actually HAD had their stomach stapled.

Good luck with your weight loss.

I personally had success with CDs in the past. It's not that it miraculously made weight loss happen.. but it helped me to be more relaxed, and more conscious of what I was eating..and that was the 'miraculous' thing about it.. Most(not all) people overeat because they are either A.) Really Nervous B.) it has become an unconscious act C.) they are avoiding/hiding an emotional issue. So in this regard, the hypnosis for weight loss really strengthened my personal ability to just be relaxed and in the moment, when it came to eating and food. I had an easier time replacing walking as a stress reliever.

I use hypnosis CDs to treat a digestive disorder that I suffer from(IBS), and it really makes a huge difference in how I sleep and how I feel in the A.M.

Honestly, If it feels right for you, give it a try. If you are not happy with the results, then simply stop, and move on.
It never hurts to try. :) go for it!

What works for one person, may or may not work for someone else. Part of this whole journey is simply finding the best path for your own personal goals and health.

If you are unsure, you could also look around online- sometimes there are Free sessions you can download as a 'trial'. (check youtube too)

Thanks for all the feedback everyone! I think I am going to give it a try, not just for the weightloss but the core issues that cause my innerself to sabotage (crave food and have no self control) me trying to lose weight. I have a lot of self hate and body issues (how I see myself) and that I believe is where this is stemming from. I've been reading up on self hate and the body issues, and thy said that hypnosis is a really great tool for helping/healing that.
