This meat sauce has been made by the women in my family for years.. Only they used ground beef (80/20 YIKES) and real sausage. I have lightened it up. I only use lean ground turkey & chicken sweet italian sausage.. It tastes NO different. I have fooled my husband as well as my own grandmother (who's recipe this is) and she didnt know either. Its a fave among my friends & I thought my MFP fam would love it as well..

I dont have ANY idea what the calories/fat/protein is.. If anyone knows how I can get that info- Id appriciate it! !

ENJOY!!!!

1 lb. Lean ground turkey
1 lb. chicken sweet italian sausage
1 large (28 oz) can of crushed tomatos undrained
1 8 oz. can tomato sauce
1 6 oz. can tomato paste
1 medium green pepper FINELY CHOPPED ( I use a small food processor & it works well)
1 medium onion FINELY CHOPPED
1 C of finely chopped carrots
1 TBSP italian seasoning
2 TBSP minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
Pasta of your choice

In a large skillet cook & brown turkey & sausage over medium heat until no longer pink. DRAIN WELL & transfer to crock pot. Stir in ALL other ingredients, cover & cook 6-8-10 hours or until bubbly. Serve over pasta of your choice!

BUMPing for later! Thanks Noelle for sharing! :flowerforyou:
  • Bump!
  • Awesome! And it'll definitely be less sodium than "store bought" meat sauce since you can get low sodium versions of all the tomato ingredients. Thank you for sharing!
