Peanuts

Ok, on every single can of peanuts I find the serving size ranges from 38-40 pieces. Now, what exactly is a piece? Is that a single peanut? Or a half of a peanut? I know its a semantic thing, but if they mean half of a peanut then eating 38 whole peanuts has effectively doubled the portion you're eating.

Yipes!! Good question. Do they list a gm or oz serving size? I would go by that - a simple food scale can be bought at WalMart for less than $10. That would give you an idea anyway  I would think though that that would be 1 peanut - a semi-educated guess :flowerforyou:

One peanut. If they intended for 1 serving to equal half a peanut the nutrition label would read:

    1 serving = 1/2 a peice

 Pretty technical stuff there. Haven't heard anyone ever ask that before.

I've got same question. We were at flea market this morning and there was guy there roasting peanuts--smelled was so good we had to have some. I didn't have scale with me (of course) but know how many I ate--so here's my question--

is a "peanut" a whole peanut in the shell

or is a "peanut" each individual nut?

If each individual, then that means each "peanut" really has 2 peanuts in it??

Never mind!! Just found the answer on some nut wholesaler website--30 individual nuts average an ounce, so that helps answer my question. Now I can just go by ounce to add to my food.
