Over the weekend I found a local Yoga class at a community center near by. I emailed the instructor and she replied that my 9-yr-old son would be welcome. I was worried my DH would poopoo the idea, but he actually was right on board saying it could only help Jake's JuJitsu and Football.

SO, off we went this morning and I must say, we both did real well. He had to use the wall for balance and need to drop to Table from downward dog a few times, but otherwise he really liked it; especially the mini massages the instructor did during relaxation poses.

Also saw there is a Zumba class in the same center, but it is on Fridays from 5:30 to 6:30. Have to think about that.

Sounds like my community center. That's how I got started on yoga last year, and I now practice at home three times a week. I've taken the sessions (8 classes per session) three times already. My body has really changed in the year that I've been pacticing. I'm stronger and more toned and flexible, and have even gotten rid of pain that I had on my neck and shoulders.

I also noticed, that they too offer zumba classes. I'm thinking about taking the zumba class when they offer it again in September, that way I can do yoga, zumba and running for my exercises and not get bored.

Community centers are a great way to learn new activities and make new friends!

I went with my mom when I was a kid too! (thought I was hot stuff because I was so flexible--then!)

I really thought he was going to get board, but he hung with it and loved it. This is great since we are home schooling him this fall, so I need to find activities where he can participate, too.
