Alright so , i buy my chicken at Costco fresh ones, the nutrition facts on it is 230 Cal Fat 2.5 g Protein 51 g this is for 216 g .
My question is do i weigh them raw or cooked.? this is what i do i just cut all the chicken breast up into smaller pieces and just throw them in the pan to grill then once its cooked i just measure 216 g on my food scale every time i eat.
Does the nutrition facts stay the same when its cooked? or those facts for when its raw?
Thanks

The nutritional information is for raw, uncooked chicken. You should weigh it raw.0

Yes, you're doing it wrong. Chicken will lose water (ie. weight) when you cook it so 216g raw chicken will be less when cooked. Using raw weight is best as cooking time and method will effect the end weight and isn't consistent0 -
okay thanks, but how much is the macros after its cooked?0
-
It will depend I how much water is lost by the chicken. The best thing to do is weigh it raw and figure how many servings you are cooking up then cook it and weigh it again. Divide the cooked weight by the number of servings and you now have the weight per serving of that batch of cooked chicken.0

there's usually 12 chicken breast already pre sliced and i cook all of them but i cut all them up into smaller pieces before cooking. so once i weigh it raw i then weigh it again cooked then divide how many servings? im trying to get the same macros on the label but the gram size will be different right? just really confused0

Work out the raw weight of chicken to meet your requirements for a meal. (Example, I have 180g chicken for lunch)
Work out how many portions you want and multiply by weight. (I make 7 for a week - 7x180)
Weigh out raw chicken to that weight (1.26kgs)
Cook chicken
Weigh again once cooked, divide by portions then measure out to that amount0 -

Weigh it raw and figure out how many servings are in the pkg
Cook it
Weigh it cooked
Divide cooked weight by number of servings in the pkg
Now you have the correct cooked weight per serving giving you the cal and macro brake down on the pkg0 -
THANK YOU! does the same go for ground turkey?0
-
Yes, it goes for any meat you cook.
Edit to add you can use the same method for pasta, rice, and beans. Anything that shows cals and macros pre cooked can be done this way.0 -

who asks this? just weigh the chicken, cook, eat, lift heavy things..it's not rocket science0 -
:flowerforyou: always weigh raw!0
